How do I turn on voice typing on a Mac?

On macOS:  → System Settings → Keyboard → Dictation → On. Voice Type adds a global hold‑to‑dictate hotkey so you can talk in any app.

Steps

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Keyboard → Dictation and switch Dictation to On.
  3. Open Voice Type and follow the quick start to set your hotkey.
  4. Hold the hotkey, speak, release to finalize. Text appears where your cursor is.
